Backcountry hunting can be pretty thrilling. But what makes doing this activity out of a backpack worthwhile for us is the fact that you can put everything you need to spend your night all in one bag.
Your hunting route will depend on what you’re hunting and, in this case, elk. You might have to set base camps in different places, and for that, you must be looking for the best tent for backcountry elk hunt.
Well, look no further because I have done all that work for you. After all my research, I have found and reviewed 4 tents that I think you will love.
Best Tent for Backcountry Elk Hunt
So, here are the reviews on four amazing tents that you can take with you for backcountry elk hunts. Now, remember to check the factors which are key to your comfort first. So, here goes:
Featherstone Outdoor Backpacking Lightweight Tent
- Capacity: 2 person
- Seasons: 3
My first entry here would be from Featherstone, a well-known company when it comes to outdoor accessories. They specialize in tents, which makes them all the more credible in this case.
For starters, this tent is made out of material for outdoor camping, making it ideal for backcountry elk hunts. It’s made out of breathable fabric, which is both lightweight and protected from the weather.
This makes sure that your tent gets the proper amount of airflow when you set up a base camp in a rural area. At the same time, weather protection keeps you safe in case of adverse weather such as rain.
Another thing to highlight is the ease of setting up and transporting this tent. The tent can be set up easily thanks to the provided single aluminum pole.
Moreover, this backpacking tent also has a freestanding feature, which makes it easily transportable even when it is entirely built and ready for use.
Along with all that, the tent is suitable for use in all 3 seasons, making it ideal for activities like camping, fishing, and hiking alike.
Hence, this tent would be perfect for literally anyone. So, even if you’re new to backcountry elk hunting, this tent would be an ideal addition to your gear.
However, the support accessories given with the tent are cheaply made. So, you might want to keep some spares, just in case, so that you don’t face any issues while you are already on the road.
- Made with breathable and lightweight micro-mesh fabric for better airflow
- Easily adjustable, and comes with freestanding for easy transport
- Suitable for all three seasons, showing versatility and usability in all places
- Proper weather protection for uninterrupted camping
- Cheaply made support accessories that fall apart quick
ALPS Mountaineering Lynx 2-Person Tent
- Capacity: 2 person
- Seasons: 3
Our next entry would be from ALPS Mountaineering. They have quite the name when it comes to equipment for mountaineering.
So, most of their products are highly durable and include a lot of features that come in handy, such as storage space. The Lynx tent series is no different. Thanks to one feature alone, this one stood out to me, which we will get to in a little while.
This Lynx tent is big enough to accommodate 2 people with ease. So, if you have a partner tagging along during your backcountry elk hunting trip, then this would be a good hunting tent option for you.
The tent gives the user a hassle-free experience thanks to its parts being easily assembled. Moreover, similar to the Featherstone tent I mentioned before, this tent also has a freestanding feature.
However, the design is an aluminum two-pole one. So, it’s a bit different. Nonetheless, once you’re done assembling the whole thing, you should be able to transport your base camp tent from one place to another without needing to disassemble.
In addition to all that, the fly on the tent is water-resistant. But what makes the deal sweeter is the fact that the file is also UV ray resistant.
So, with all these features, the tent will not only keep you dry during heavy rain, but it will also protect you from the harmful rays of the sun, which damages your skin. Along with this, the fly also comes with two vestibules which add extra storage space.
But that’s not it. The one reason this tent stands out so much is that it contains lots of storage space around. Including the vestibules on the fly, the tent also includes multiple storage packets on which you can easily store your stuff.
So, this Lynx tent would be great for people who want a lot of storage space, especially when they’re spending the night camping before a backcountry hunt.
- No frustration while assembling this tent, making things hassle-free
- It has a freestanding feature and follows an aluminum two-pole design
- Water-resistant fly is also UV damage-resistant for added protection
- Fully equipped with multiple storage options for the user
- Nothing apart from the occasional defects
Snugpak Ionosphere One Person Tent
- Capacity: 1 person
- Seasons: 4
The Snugpak Ionosphere is another tent that caught our eye pretty easily and mostly because of one feature: its durability.
But, this backcountry hunting tent shines in other places too, being a one-person backpacking tent. Moreover, SnugPak is well-known for making unique camping tents, and this one is no different.
During my research, the first thing that caught my eye about this tent is the fact that it has NSL anodized DAC Featherlite aluminum design poles, and they even come with press connectors.
So, you can get them attached in no time. It even comes with a basic repair kit. Hence, you don’t have to worry when you’re in the middle of a hunting trip. If something breaks, you can easily handle it with the basic repair kit.
But all these features are not the main selling point of this tent. This tent stands out because it was designed for warmer climates, such as tropical regions.
So, the fabric is made to be breathable, and Snugpak even included a mosquito net to keep you safe from those blood-sucking insects, which are unavoidable in tropical regions of the world.
However, the tent’s finishing isn’t actually the best, and it has no freestanding feature. But the pros outweigh the cons in this case, and thus, this tent has my recommendation.
- Easy to install thanks to NSL anodized DAC Featherlite aluminum pole with press connectors
- Includes mosquito net for warmers climates
- It comes with a basic repair kit so that you’re always ready for mishaps
- Waterproof Flysheet to withstand rainy weather conditions
- Cheap finishing and not a freestanding tent
GEERTOP Backpacking 2 Person Tent for Camping
- Capacity: 2 person
- Seasons: 4
For our last entry among the best backcountry elk hunt tent reviews, we have a four-season backpacking tent by Geertop. This tent doesn’t actually provide you with any new feature that’s worth mentioning, but it has all the features that you might, and it’s also a two-person tent.
The out fabric is waterproof, making it able to withstand all four seasons. Meaning that there are two layers put together to ensure proper ventilation in the tent and also take care of weather protection.
Moreover, anyone can quickly set the tent up within a matter of minutes, saving you a lot of work and time.
And to top it all off, the tent might be a two-person tent, but it comes with a compact design that lets you fold it up and carry it pretty easily. However, this isn’t the best tent on the list.
The materials used to make it are pretty cheap, so there are chances of the tent showing defects at times. But if you’re someone with a tight budget but need the functionality, then this tent is definitely for you.
- The waterproof tent is made to withstand all four seasons
- It has two layers on the outside for weather protection and proper ventilation
- One person can carry out a quick and easy setup within a short period of time
- Has enough space for two individuals
- Made using cheap material.
That brings us to the end of our journey of finding the best tent for backcountry elk hunt. So, to conclude, the ALP Mountaineering Lynx 2-Person Tent would be a fantastic addition to your backcountry hunting gear, thanks to its size.
At the same time, it has ample storage so that you can adequately lay back in your base camp with all your things organized in your tent.
For warmer climates, I would recommend the Snugpack Ionosphere. Despite its cheap finishing, it’s perfect for rough situations and will help you pull through. And that’s all that we had. Stay safe.
